Things are rolling along here at the lab. While I’m head down on a few projects, I thought I’d come up for air and give you some updates.
I’ve been doing some international interviews recently, so I should have something to share as soon as they drop. Over the years, my European interviews have been among my favorites because they approach my work as art, the way it was intended. I have much more to say about that, but I think I will save it up for Fear and Loathing on the Internet.
One unnerving aspect of the following documentary is that the creator of the video below seems to know the type of coffee I drink and where I buy it. A little chilling. Anyway, here is some stuff for you to enjoy.
A boots-on-the-ground adventure searching for the real locations behind the Ong's Hat tale. Part 1.
THE DIVIDED DIAL
Those who have heard me talk about shortwave and its influence on me at a young age will understand why I’m enjoying season 2 of this excellent podcast series. It’s early in the run, so catch up and enjoy it with me.

In Case You Missed It
I participated in this Art Bell nostalgia piece. The upcoming Art Bell movie producer, with Paul Giamatti, said he shared it with the film's creative team for inspiration. It is on Substack, complete with the podcast's audio if you missed it.
A History of Unreality
We’re in a strange place at the moment. The shared sense of “truth” that we rely upon for the world to work has begun to fracture. People are living in almost entirely separate realities, under siege from a torrent of lies and misinformation, and tensions between the opposing sides are becoming dangerously inflamed. So today we’re going to look at the roots of some of the narratives that have done so much damage, and hopefully see if there might be a way to build some kind of a bridge.
A History of Unreality
Initiation by Nightmare
Sleep paralysis, cosmic horror and Chapel Perilous
I found this piece inspiring. If you know me or if you’ve been keeping up with my thinking via interviews, you know I advocate the “extreme initiation method.”
I think I am missing a real marketing opportunity not having a Forest Blend!
Gonna dig on that shortwave pod, I was similarly entranced by the tech as a kid - got a set from RadioShack and would get up at 4 am on school days to check the airwaves
